Major American automakers, including the General motors, Ford,

The cheap energy available from the Arab world encouraged
American automakers, General motors, Ford, and Chrysler to make

Conceived in 2003, Tata Automakers Mumbai had launched the much-
hyped 'cheapest' car in Mumbai on March 23 in year 2010. Tata
cars, buses and trucks are being marketed in many countries in
Europe, Africa, Middle East, South Asia, South East Asia and
Latin America.
After Nano car success in Mumbai, Tata Automakers is planning to
take Nano car to the global markets. Make it available to common
people of underdeveloped country. They are looking at the right
hand markets like Indonesia and South Africa and would set up
local assembly as well. CNBC-TV18’s Swati Khandelwal reports.
Tata Nano car will soon be in the global markets. This
'cheapest' nano car will be taken to the right hand markets
first which includes Indonesia and South Africa. This will be
its phase one, and then the company will take Nano car to the
other markets like Thailand, Sri Lanka, Romania, Turkey and
Brazil. These are the markets where the Tata Car Company has
finalized on going ahead for their export plans of Nano car.
Some of the vendors have been approached to set up the assembly
lines in export markets, where Tata Automakers would look at
exporting completely built units (CBUs) of nano car. But
eventually, they would start assembling the Nano in those
markets to get the costs right.
The nano car would be available for about NGN 360 for the base
model, same as the price in the Mumbai markets. The nano car
carries a price tag of $ 2700 - Rs 1.23 lakh to Rs 1.72 lakh
(ex-showroom) in the Mumbai for three variants.
"Tata Automakers will make the Nano available in Nigeria in the
2011 years," Sudeep Ray, senior official with Tata Africa
Nigeria, said. "The launching of the Nano was branded as
everyman behind the wheel and will benefit Nigerians because
public transport systems like metro are not available here."
"The car (Nano) will cost NGN 357,480 (about Rs 1.16 lakh) in
Nigeria, which is much less than the price of most second hand
saloon cars sold here," Ray said. The cost of an used car
usually starts at NGN 5, 00,000 in the country. Ray, however,
declined to give details whether the 'cheapest' car nano of the
world be assembled in Nigeria or it would be sold as a
completely-built-unit.
A Tata Automakers spokesperson from Mumbai added: "The Company
has said that the Tata nano car can be marketed in other
countries, but timelines, modes and countries are yet to be
finalized.". Earlier in March, Tata Automakers had showcased the
European version of the Nano car, which the company planned to
launch in 2011.
